VIP FEE TIERS

Binance VIP Fee Tiers Explained

Every Binance account starts at VIP 0, but the fee schedule does not stop there. Nine volume-based VIP levels sit above the default, each one lowering your maker and taker rate. Here is exactly how the tiers work in 2026, what it takes to reach them, and how the rates compare with the standard fee most people quote.

What Binance VIP tiers actually are

Binance uses a tiered fee schedule. Everyone begins at VIP 0, the default level with the standard rates you see quoted everywhere: 0.1% spot taker and 0.08% spot maker, plus roughly 0.04% futures taker and 0.02% futures maker. Above VIP 0 there are nine numbered VIP levels - VIP 1 through VIP 9 - and an invitation-only tier above those for the largest accounts. Each step down the ladder reduces both your maker and taker rate. The more you trade, or the more BNB you hold, the lower your cost per trade becomes compared with the headline number most people repeat.

The important thing to understand is that VIP status is earned, not bought. You never pay a subscription to unlock a tier. You qualify automatically through your 30-day trading volume or through the size of your BNB balance, and whichever threshold you hit first is the one that promotes you. There is no application form.

The standard (VIP 0) rates to compare against

At VIP 0, spot trades cost 0.1% taker and 0.08% maker. USD-M futures cost about 0.04% taker and 0.02% maker. These are the numbers almost every fee article stops at - but they are only the starting line. Everything below shows what happens once volume or BNB lifts you off VIP 0.

These figures are the baseline every other rate is measured against. They are the figures most referral pages repeat, and they are correct - for VIP 0. The value of this guide is in the rows beneath them.

The VIP 0 row is the baseline. Each numbered tier below it lowers both spot and futures rates.

How you qualify for a VIP tier

There are two parallel qualification tracks, and you only need to clear one. The first is your 30-day trading volume, measured in US dollars across spot and futures. The second is your BNB balance, measured as the average daily holding over the same 30 days. Cross the threshold on either track and Binance promotes you automatically at the start of the next day - no ticket, no wait.

A detail worth knowing: because the tracks are independent, a trader with modest volume but a large BNB holding receives the same tier as a high-volume trader. That is why simply holding BNB can be cheaper than forcing volume you would not otherwise trade. The upper, invitation-only tiers can also be reached through assets held or referral activity, but for VIP 1 through VIP 9 the volume and BNB tracks are the self-service path.

Read the table as a gradient: as the tier rises, both rates fall, and at the top tiers the maker-taker gap narrows because the base rates are already so low. The numbers here are representative of the published schedule and rounded; confirm the live figures on Binance's official VIP fee page, because thresholds and rates are adjusted from time to time.

Notice that the savings are not linear. The jump from VIP 0 to VIP 1 is the smallest in percentage terms, while the climbs through the middle tiers - VIP 3 to VIP 6 - deliver the steepest drops for most traders who are serious about cost.

Worked example across the tiers

Take a trader doing 100,000 USD of spot volume in a 30-day window. At VIP 0 the taker rate is 0.1%, so that volume costs 100 USD in fees. Move to VIP 1 - historically reached around 1 million USD in 30-day volume, or a substantial BNB balance - and the taker rate falls to 0.09%, trimming the same volume to 90 USD, a 10 USD saving. Push to VIP 5 and the taker rate is 0.05%, halving the cost versus VIP 0 on identical trades. Over a year of steady volume the difference between VIP 0 and VIP 5 is the difference between four-figure and five-figure fee bills.

The same logic applies to futures, where the base rates are already lower: a VIP 5 futures taker rate near 0.01% is a quarter of the VIP 0 rate, and the referral rebate then takes another 20% off that already-small number.

How VIP tiers stack with BNB and a referral code

Three levers lower your fee, and they combine rather than compete. The VIP tier sets your base rate. Paying fees in BNB applies a further discount on top of that base. And the SHZB888 referral rebate takes 20% off whatever tier rate ends up applying. Because the rebate is a percentage of your tier rate, it is worth more in absolute dollars the higher your VIP level - a VIP 5 trader saves more in real money from the same 20% code than a VIP 0 trader does, even though both receive the identical percentage.

If you are weighing whether the referral code is worth using at a high tier, the answer only gets stronger as you climb: the tier lowers the base, BNB lowers it again, and the code lowers the result. None of the three cancels the others out.

Frequently asked questions

What are Binance VIP fee tiers?

Binance groups accounts into tiers from VIP 0 up to VIP 9, plus an invitation-only top tier. Each tier sets your maker and taker trading rates. Higher tiers mean lower fees, earned through 30-day trading volume or a BNB balance rather than a paid upgrade.

How do I reach VIP 1?

You qualify for VIP 1 once your 30-day spot and futures trading volume, or your average 30-day BNB balance, crosses the published threshold. Binance applies the promotion automatically at the start of the next day, so there is no form to submit.

Do I have to pay to join a VIP tier?

No. VIP tiers are earned through activity or holdings, not purchased. You never pay a subscription or any fee to unlock a lower rate.

What is the difference between VIP 0 and a VIP tier?

VIP 0 is the default rate: 0.1% spot taker and 0.08% spot maker. Each VIP level lowers both rates. By VIP 5, for example, the spot taker rate is roughly half the VIP 0 level.

Does holding BNB count toward VIP status?

Yes. BNB balance is a separate qualification track from trading volume. If your average 30-day BNB holding clears the threshold, you receive the same tier a high-volume trader would.

How much can VIP tiers save on fees?

On 100,000 USD of monthly spot volume, moving from VIP 0 (0.1% taker) to VIP 1 (0.09%) saves about 10 USD per 100k, and to VIP 5 (0.05%) saves about 50 USD per 100k. The gap widens as volume grows.

Does referral code SHZB888 still help if I am a VIP?

Yes. SHZB888 returns 20% of whatever tier rate applies to your account. Because the rebate is a percentage, it is worth more in absolute terms at higher VIP levels, so it benefits high-volume traders most.

Are VIP rates the same for spot and futures?

No. Futures maker and taker rates are already lower than spot at every tier, and both keep falling as you climb the VIP ladder.

How often is my VIP level recalculated?

Binance recalculates eligibility daily using your trailing 30-day volume and average BNB balance. If you drop below a threshold, your tier adjusts at the next daily refresh.
